Megan Moroney - 9 Cities in 9 Days Tour Review
“I’m walking on sunshine, I’m floating on air…. I’m sitting on the sidewalk in the freezing cold?”
My Tuesday morning was spent sitting on the sidewalk in 20 degree weather waiting to purchase $9 tickets for Megan Moroney’s “9 Cities in 9 Days” tour. Yes, they really were $9, and yes it really was 20 degrees.
Tickets were only sold at the box office on the day of the event. So needless to say, starting at 10pm the night before, fans were already camping to get the tickets. I showed up in the morning, gasping at the line that seemed to go across the whole perimeter with no end.
Eventually finding the end of the line, I got in it with my friend. Waiting for tickets took about 4 hours. It was freezing, there were moments where we thought about bailing. Especially since we had no idea what number we were in line. Tickets were limited, if we were 2,7001st in line… we weren’t getting them.
After a couple of mental breakdowns, we got our wristbands and tickets and we were good to go!
The doors opened at 5pm, and Megan Moroney came on at 6:15pm. She told the crowd that she wanted to see her fans during the release week of Cloud 9. But, her regular tour doesn’t start until May, (stay tuned for coverage on opening night!) so she chose to do a mini tour to celebrate the release!
Her set was 3 acoustic songs. Our setlist was “Stupid”, “Medicine”, and “Liars, Tigers, and Bears”. The last song originally wasn’t on the set list, but after seeing a fan in a tiger onesie, Megan played it. I was surprised to hear she wasn’t planning on playing it in the first place, she may have been in Newport, but she was in Bengals country! Who Dey!
After the acoustic set, fans were called up in groups to meet her and get something signed. The meet and greet was extremely brief, that wasn’t a problem to me, I wanted to get my CD signed and I accomplished that. Although, if you’re looking for a very personal meet and greet experience this is not the event for you.
Now to answer the big question. Was it worth it? I would say mainly yes. For the small price of $9, I got an acoustic set, met her, and got my CD signed. Was it worth standing in below freezing for hours? Debatable.
I still had a great time regardless of all the hassle and I cannot wait to see her in Columbus for opening night!
